GRAPES: Groppello Gentile 60%, Barbera 15%, Sangiovese 15%, Marzemino 10%.
ORIGIN: Important red wine. The name comes from the founder of the dinasty, Alessandro Materossi, nicknamed “Don Lisander”. The selected grapes, for the 50%, are left to dry during two months in large airy rooms before being crushed in the traditional way. The wine matures for at least 15 months in small barrel made of allier and slavonian oak and rest at least in the bottle for 9 months more before been released.
COLOUR: Deep ruby colour with a garnet shimmer.
SMELL: Clean, uplifted somewhat earthy varietal aroma: Red fruit and cherries and some spiciness (white pepper, cinnamon).
TASTE: Fresh and strong flavour, full bodied. Fresh finishing with good length and spicy tannin elegant style.
SUGGESTED FOOD: Pasta, poultry, white and read meat, game, duck and hard cheese. Pleasant to sip also in the after meal.
Open the bottle one hour before serving; better to pour into a decanter. To be served at 19° C.
